Retrospectrum Support

A diary of evenings, on two axes.

Questions, bug reports, or anything that looked wrong:

One person reads this, so replies are not instant, but they come from someone who can fix the thing you're writing about.

Reporting a problem

Say which device and which screen, and what you expected to happen. A screenshot helps, but think before sending one: it may show your events. Nothing is sent from the app on its own, so we only see what you choose to put in the email.

Common questions

Where are my events kept?

On your device, in the app's own storage, and in your device backup if you have one. There is no Retrospectrum account and no server that receives them.

Some of my older events aren't showing

Two things can hide them, and neither deletes anything:

Settings → Compass and List → Show Events From hides events older than the period you pick. Set it to All Time to see them again.

Without Pro, the compass and list show the last 90 days. Older events are kept and counted, and they're always in exports. Pro shows them all again straight away.

I bought Pro, but the app doesn't show it

Open Settings → Purchases → Restore Purchases. It asks the App Store for everything bought with your Apple Account, on any device. If Family Sharing is on, a family member's Pro counts too.

How do I move my events from Life Compass?

Export your events from Life Compass, then open Settings → Your Data → Import from Life Compass…. It reads an events.json, or an encrypted events.enc with its passphrase, and shows you what will change before anything does.

How do I get a copy of everything?

Settings → Your Data → Export All Events… writes every event as an events.json file, which Life Compass opens too. Export is free, and includes events the compass isn't showing.

Can I keep the diary private on a shared device?

Turn on App Lock in Settings. The app then asks for Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode when it opens. Widgets and reminders leave event names out unless you choose otherwise.

How do I delete everything?

Deleting the app deletes everything it stored on the device. To delete one event, swipe it left in the list and choose Delete; Undo brings it back.
